Hey Dolls! I'm C'Yaundra Morrell, one of the top hairstylists and beauty influencers from Lansing, MI. Most of you may know me by my stage name 'SlayAundra Stylez'. I started the journey towards my ultimate career path at just 11 years old. I have always been a creative person who can pretty much replicate something I've seen once. I grew up watching my mom and sisters do hair so, when I picked up a comb and brush it was like a walk in the park. In 2011 I launched my youtube channel to express my creativity even more. I stepped into the virgin hair game back in 2014 to source out the best hair extensions to use on my clients. I had this client who used to call me 'The Queen of Sewins' because I had the foundation down pat and bundles on hand. Sashay and Slay LLC (Formally '95 Tresses LLC) launched April 2018 and has since become a household name.
Honestly, trial and error is the best teacher in life. You won't really know your capabilities until you go against fear and get your hands dirty.
One thing that I tell people who are coming up after me, is to always remain a student in the game. Feed your brain with as much knowledge as you can to further progress yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help or give credit where its due. You'll make long-lasting connections just from being genuine. I'm skilled in so many areas that I can literally dominate in just about any field but the areas that I choose to focus on are the ones that I'm the most passionate about.
I stepped into prison reform activism after the successful launch of the #FreeShetoanCoates Campaign, which stirred up so much love and support from our hometown. We took it even further by sharing the stories of others who were greatly affected by an incarceration and formed Reparations For An Underdog LLC, which spreads awareness about wrongful convictions, excessive punishment, and the severity of mass incarceration. From there, we launched Mitten Made Hustle, an organization that showcases the local talent currently residing in Michigan. It was important for us to highlight where we came from, instead of forgetting it. We plan to continue doing our part to create change worldwide, while bringing wealth back into our hometown.
